Black Residents Reject Trader Joe’s Because it Would Attract too Many White People

Black residents of Portland reject diversity and multiracialism; fight establishment of a Trader Joes in “their” neighborhood.

The Portland Development Commission was set to give the grocer a large discount on property that had been vacant for years, pricing it at just over $500,000, down from an appraised value of $2.9 million, according to The Oregonian.

The Portland African American Leadership Forum sent a scathing letter in December to city leaders, saying the plan would price residents out of the area and the group“remains opposed to any development in North/Northeast Portland that does not primarily benefit the black community.”

Vacant lots have high social value to the black “community.” They’re good places to dump dead bodies, to do drug deals, and to hump a hooker. How dare the white man interfere with black culture?

It just shows that ONE MORE TIME, we can’t win with these people because on the other side we have folks complaining about “food deserts” where colored people can’t find a vegetable!!!!-they don’t even know what a vegetable IS!!! and IT’S ALL OUR FAULT! YEAH RIGHT!

  3. Objecting to Trader Joe’s?

Trader Joe’s only puts stores in a place where the percentage of people who live in an x mile radius from it have college degrees and a certain percentage of people who live in an x mile radius have household incomes of some amount or above.

If it wanted to build there, it was because there was enough of their desired constituency close enough to there, even if “there” was the ghetto.

I read it was mostly outside agitator groups who opposed it and shut it down, not the residents.

  6. TabuLa Raza says:

“Outside agitators”- existing retailers, probably unionized.

Trader Joe is owned by the same German firm that owns Aldi.
