The $PLC is usually extremely nasty in tone, and leaves out a lot of interesting stuff. Goldwag reports many positive and interesting things about the first international conference on men’s right — very atypical of $PLC reporting.
For example, he reports on a defector from Marxism and feminism. This is an amazing story:
The Canadian Senator Anne Cools, who opened the conference, spoke at great length about how feminism has hijacked Canada’s family courts, quoting Blackstone on women’s rights, the song “Frankie and Johnnie” and even Euripides to give lie to the supposed feminist myth that women were historically oppressed. Frankie and Medea, she implied, both gave as good as they got. Erin Pizzey, the well-known novelist, ex-feminist, and founder of Chiswick Women’s Aid, one of the first women’s shelters, indicted the movement she had once helped lead as a radical Marxist plot to turn women against men, destroy families, and create a billion dollar social welfare industry.
But no matter — the men’s rights hordes are storming the comments there! The Elliott Rodger posts drew thousands of comments. The mens rights people are fanatic! The $PLC commenters are very nasty and angry and ad hominem, which of course will fuel the fanaticism of the men’s righters, in a positive feedback loop. The $PLC commenters are so nasty and persistent that even I tire of clashing with them, but the mens righters have lots of time and energy and numbers for the 100 Years Comment War.
