Kunstler’s newest novel, A History of the Future, is out and in it, the South did rise again!

James Howard Kunstler still uses the outdated term “white supremacist,” but I email him now and then trying to update his vocabulary.

In Jim’s post-collapse world, the South does rise again! And it’s got a Dolly Parton like country singer as it’s neo-Hitler. She would be Hitler XI or XII by then, if I recall my Hitler successions correctly. Putin is Hitler IX, and I imagine there’s going to be at least 1 or 2 more Hitlers between now and the Kunstler-Zukunft.

Anyway, I haven’t read it yet, but I emailed Kunstler to ask if the new Dixie is still existing by the end of the novel, or if he gave it a Berlin 1945 fate. I was relieved to find out that it’s still going strong by the end of the novel. I’ll write another post about it after I actually read it.

  1. Kunstler is German for “artist.”

    Reblogged this on ElderofZyklon's Blog!.

  3. What sort of feedback do you get from Kunstler? I haven’t read his books–are there any black people in them? Latinos? I remember “The Road” was popular with a lot of people who probably never thought too hard about its disturbing implication (among others) that post-apocalyptic America would have a lot of ethnic cleansing.

I used to comment at Kunstler’s and all the hippies were horrified when I pointed out that his post-industrial scenarios would mean ethnic separation faster than you can say blood-is-thicker-than-water. I also used to ask them why they though any self-reliant rural types would give them the time of day after decades devoted to hatred of their fellow whites. Never really got a response.
